Biography
David Jardine trained in London before joining Jardine, Matheson & Co. in China. He was a Director of the company, 1843-1856, and became the Taipan following the retirement of Donald Matheson in 1848. He was the nephew of William Jardine, co-founder of Jardine, Matheson & Co., and the cousin of David Jardine of Balgray, founder of Jardine, Skinner & Co.
