Biography
Alan Reid joined Jardine, Matheson & Co. Ltd in 1933 and was employed in the Shipping Department, working in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tsingtao and on the lower Yangtze. He was a Director of Matheson & Co. Ltd from 1950 until the late 1970s, and remained on the board of the company until his retirement in 1986. He was an honorary archivist of Jardine, Matheson & Co. Ltd, and wrote on the company's history.
