Hugh Flint was employed by Jardine, Matheson & Co. Ltd and the Jardine Engineering Corporation Ltd in Shanghai and Tientsin, 1924-1946. He worked mainly in accounts, but was also briefly Agent at Tientsin. He was subsequently a Director of Matheson & Co. Ltd, 1947-1964.

Copies of semi-official N.C. letters nos 1-2 from H. Flint, Matheson & Co. Ltd, London, to L.E.C. Letts, Jardine Waugh (Singapore) Ltd, with two enclosed letters regarding Sarawak mining equipment. The semi-official N.C. correspondence concerns Jardine Waugh Ltd's proposed involvement with the Nippon Coal Mining Co. Ltd in the mining of coal in Sarawak for consumption in Japan. The ring-binder is labelled 'File I'.
