Scope and Contents
Copies of semi-official letters nos T.1-95 from H. Flint, J.H. Keswick, W.J. Keswick and W.E.D. Smith, Matheson & Co. Ltd, London, to A.C.M. Harrisson and W.E. Postlethwaite, Matheson & Co. Ltd, Calcutta, with enclosed letters and papers, including two reports by A.C.W. Hunter on his visits to United Kingdom clients and Continental buyers during August 1954. The correspondence concerns the Calcutta's office business in the tea trade. The subjects include Bhattacharjee (Tea Blenders) Private Ltd; the export trade from Calcutta; East Africa; Hälssen & Lyon; staffing issues; tea for Australia; and Van Rees, Burcksen and Bosman. The ring-binder is labelled 'File I'.
