At fo. 66v is a Latin recipe in the main hand, and at fo. 67 recipes in another hand, continued at the foot of 66v. At fo. 67v is yet another recipe in a crude 17th cent. hand, also to be found in scribblings inside the back cover. fo. 68: wanting.

Chemical Observations and Related Notes

Scope and Contents A series of descriptions of, and observations on, various chemical experiments, fos 1-67, with an index at fos 77v-79r. This is followed by medical recipes written in another hand, fos 68-76 and 84v, the last of which is dated 1706. On fo. 1 in the second hand is 'John Fry / Wooburne / Beddfordshire', and opposite in the same hand 'Hic Liber est meus'. Most of the versos are blank. Loose in the book are accounts on a slip of paper dated 6 April [17]74.

Diaries compiled by Lionel and Ethel Whitby, 1943 - 1956

Scope and Contents Mainly during foreign or academic tours. Although Lady Whitby accompanied Sir Lionel on some trips after the end of the Second World War, some of these diaries were written for each other, when separated by foreign travel and work, with the intention that they could read them when reunited. The diaries cover the latter part of the Second World War, when Dr Whitby was Commanding Officer of the Army Blood Transfusion Service, and his time as Regius Professor of Physic at the University of...

Conditions Governing Access: From the Management Group: Some records series are subject to confidentiality restrictions with the following closure periods: 30 years from date of creation for general administration files, legal records and financial files; 50 years from date of creation for governmental records, including papers of the College Governing Body and College Council, and constituent committees; 100 years from date of creation for personal and personnel records, including tutorial files, staff and fellows files and appointment records, personal finance and pension records. In addition sensitive correspondence and papers concerning College affairs such as disputes and disciplinary matters are closed for 100 years. Restrictions apply on some personal and private papers.
