The Needham Research Institute holds extensive archives relating to Dr Joseph Needham's preparation of the volumes of "Science and Civilisation in China" (Cambridge University Press, 1954-), and other China-related publications. These include files relating to lectures given and conferences attended, travel in East Asia, parallel publications, language learning, and contacts, as well as files concerning the practicalities of publishing the work. Additional research materials include photographs, lecture slides and objects.

Access arrangements: The archives may be consulted from 10.00 to 16.30 on weekdays. Visits are by appointment only.
