178 x 125 mm. A view up the main drive towards the front entrance of the building from Lucan St, which consists of two wings connected by a central portion. The building was completed in 1859, and in 1891 ‘next to the Melbourne Hospital the institution accommodates a larger number of patients and gives a greater amount of outdoor relief than any hospital in the colony’.

The City Hotel, Sandhurst, 1875
178 x 123 mm. An exterior view of the hotel, a narrow stone building with iron-work verandahs on the first floor. A horse carriage stands in front of the hotel which was built in 1872, at the height of the Bendigo building boom, and is situated at Charing Cross, just beyond Pall Mall.
