Contains slides showing scenes in the house and gardens of John Ewart Marnham's residence just outside Castries. They include slides of the very attractive views from the garden and a series of aerial views taken at varying heights in May 1972. This section concludes with photographs of members of the domestic staff taken just before Marnham left St Lucia (dated Oct 72 nos 18-25). Slides have been renumbered but arrangement in the file remains as per the original typescript catalogue.

This new, brick built Government House was commenced while the previous Governor, Sir Walter Sendall, was away from the island in 1886, the year after Grenada became the headquarters for the Windward Islands administration. The figure standing on the steps leading up to the house is probably Sir Walter Hely-Hutchinson.

Standing in the drive in the foreground is the Governor of the Windward Islands, Sir Walter Hely-Hutchinson (1849-1913), who assumed the post from November 1889 until 1893. He later spent nine years as Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Cape Colony.
