The papers consist of: reading notes on both European and British history and also on historiography and other subjects; notes and offprints from Behrens's own writing and publications, on European and British history and also historiography; some reviews; correspondence relating to Behrens's work; lecture notes; some personal material, including sketches and notes for an autobiography; papers relating to the work of Behrens's husband E H Carr.

The majority of the collection relates to Donald's scientific career and research: including publications; academic conferences; papers relating to scientists collaborating and working for Donald; scientific findings and data. It also includes material, including articles, relating to Donald's role as a gender equality champion and a copy of her blog.

Unfortunately few political papers or correspondence exist, and the most valuable section is Horsbrugh's own collection of presscuttings, HSBR 2.

The collection comprises a small collection of personal papers, ephemera, and photographs; printed copies of Hamilton's published articles and talks; biographical materials prepared by Hamilton's niece and nephew; and a series of Mary Agnes Hamilton's handwritten private diaries in small notebooks compiled between January 1938 and August 1945. The sequence of diaries is complete, apart from one diary dating from November 1942-March 1943.

The Sedgwick Club Archive contains administrative documents including minute books, 1880-1926; financial records, 1880-1989; handwritten copies of papers given at meetings, 1880-; excursion scrapbooks, 1882 to 1950; social events records including menu cards; copies of club photographs 1900-1974 [NB: a full set of club photographs are on display in Cambridge University Department of Earth Sciences] and digitized copies of all group photographs [until 2016].
