Biographical / Historical
Florence Horsbrugh was Conservative MP for Dundee from 1931 - 1945; Parliamentary Secretary Ministry of Health 1939 - 1945; MP for the Moss Side Division of Manchester 1950 - 1959; Minister of Education 1951 - 1954; Delegate to the Council of Europe and Western European Union 1955 - 1960. She became a Life Peeress in 1959 and died on 6 December 1969.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
This small collection of Florence Horsbrugh's papers was given to the College in 1970, shortly after her death.
General
The Horsburgh catalogue was converted from typescript to electronic form as part of the A2A project co-ordinated by the National Archives. The catalogue was updated by Natalie Adams of Churchill Archives Centre 2002-2005. Description of a blue cloth despatch box and an honorary degree gown were added by Sophie Bridges, April 2024.
