There is also a cutting from the 'Daily Telegraph', London, 27 February 1860, pp. 5-6, including two articles, 'The Stoppage of Trade in Japan' and 'Lord Elgin and Sir M. Seymour'.

The despatch is undersigned by Real-Admiral Li (Rigault de Genouilly), the French Commodore; Real-Admiral Hsi (Michael Seymour), the English Commodore; and Ssu (Charles Van Straubenzee), the Major-General of the British garrisons at Hong Kong.
