205 x 132 mm. A view looking along Parramatta Street towards the east front of the main university building, with the Great Hall on the right. The building to the left of the main building is the university Medical School. The university is situated on the small hill overlooking Victoria Park, between Glebe and Newtown.
Domain Gates, Sydney, 1883 - 1885
190 x 140 mm. A view looking through the gates towards St. Mary's Cathedral, situated on the East Side of Hyde Park. The building seen here is still under construction; the north wall is complete, but there is as yet no roof or central tower. The first Roman Catholic Cathedral on the site was burned down in 1865. William Wardell designed the present building, which took over twenty years to complete. This photograph was probably taken around 1883-1885.

Drinking Fountain, St. Mary's Road, 1885
190 x 140 mm. A view down St. Mary's Road, with an ornate stone drinking fountain in the foreground. Known as the Frazer Fountain, it was designed by Thomas Sapsford in 1884.

East End of the Prince Alfred Hospital, 1895 - 1900
209 x 143 mm. A view of the hospital, showing the verandahs, balconies, and elaborate iron-work rails outside the wards. These original buildings have long since been swallowed up in the growth of the hospital, forming a nucleus for the considerable accretions on all sides.

Eveleigh Running Sheds, 1872 - 1895
345 x 262 mm. A view of the Eveleigh locomotive building works, with an engine outside on the point of entering one of the bays. With the extension of lines it was found that the Sydney terminal could not cope with both maintaining the locomotives and running services. The need for a new building was felt as early as 1875, and shortly afterwards John Whitton presented plans for the new running-sheds, which were built on a 62 acre site purchased by the Government at Redfern.

Exchange, Gresham Street, 1870 - 1879
275 x 209 mm. View looking west across Gresham Street, with the eastern façade of the Exchange visible at the right, overlooking Macquarie Place. This two storey building, with composite pilasters running through both floors, was later enlarged by a further two floors. The left hand building, with its first floor windows flanked by paired Ionic columns, housed a number of businesses, among them that of the Land Surveyor Ernest O. Smith.
Exhibition Building, 1870 - 1880
210 x 152 mm. A view of the baroque building, with its dominating fan-shaped window above the entrance, which was built for the 1870 exhibition, celebrating Captain James Cook’s discovery of Botany Bay in 1770. The building was situated in the Prince Alfred Park behind the railway station and was demolished in 1954 in order to build a swimming pool.
