The figures are too indistinct for positive identification, but Heany, Pennefather, Johnson and Selous can be made out. Photograph probably taken at Macloutsie camp, June 1890.

Hodson found about 250 refugees at Otse, many of whom were suffering from smallpox and on the verge of starvation. After destroying their arms and giving strict instructions that the group should isolate themselves, Hodson arranged for their transfer to Kgentsa.
