Maddocks has written many articles on postal history, the majority reflecting his primary interest in the history of the Cameroons, particularly during the colonial period. He is the author of a monograph examining postal arrangements during the conquest of German Kamerun by the British and French during the First World War. Forty-five black and white photographs relating to the Aid tour of 1950. There are 27 captioned portrait photographs of the members of the tour party taken c. 1948-1950. The remaining images comprise group pictures and scenes from the schoolboys' time in Africa, some labelled and dated, including two mounted on card.
