Scope and Contents
Correspondence and press cuttings on the political situation in Rhodesia [Zambia and Zimbabwe] following the Unilateral Declaration of Independence (UDI). Correspondents include: Arnold Smith, Commonwealth Secretary-General, on the Commonwealth's formal position; Peter Jackson on a demonstration on Rhodesia, mounted by the Anti-Apartheid Movement; George Thomson, Secretary of State for Commonwealth Affairs, on covert breaking of oil sanctions against Rhodesia, particularly by France.
Also includes a memorandum on the situation of the Tangwena people in the Inyanga district.
