Apart from one photograph of Cyprus, the photograph collection relates to Arthur's last three posts (Bermuda, the Falkland Islands and the Bahamas), and, as well as more general scenes, includes images of several special events and distinguished visitors. The caption on the reverse of the photograph reads: 'One of three mountain fortresses on the peaks of Kyrenia Range, and certainly the most impressive of them all. It is the classic picture-look fairly [sic] castle, overlooking Kyrenia town from a height of 2,200 feet. The earliest historical reference to the Castle is found in chronicles recording Richard Coeur de Lion's conquest. It was originally built by the Byzantines'.

Quarter-plate. Boys of the Greek Elementary School of Larnaca (attached to a church in similar way to old voluntary schools in England). Beside the entry stands Little John a deacon of the Church. Tomb of St. Lazarus (Raising of Lazarus) is in this Church.

A view showing the elaborate entrance to the church with a few Cypriots around the doorway: 'Hard by the Cathedral of St Sophia stands a church once dedicated to St. Nicholas, but now used as a granary, whose richly-sculptured portal, the subject of this photograph, is one of the finest examples of its kind in Cyprus' (Thomson 1879, vol.1, p.15). The building, in a sad state of disrepair in this photograph, has now been completely demolished.
