151 x 108 mm. A view showing actinolite outcrops on a hillside on the Nullagine Road ten miles south of Marble Bar. The outcrops take the form of clusters of sharp pencilled shaped rock (probably green hornblende) projecting from the hillside. Photograph by S.J. Becher. Negative No. 129.

275 x 210 mm. A view looking down on the town from a slight rise with a hill beyond. Albany is situated about 250 miles by road S.E. of Perth and lies on the site of the first settlement in Western Australia. Its fine harbour (not visible in picture) was, before Fremantle harbour was constructed, the most important port of the west coast.

195 x 145 mm. Photograph taken from farther back than Y3085D/7, facing in same direction, with the post office and shops now in background. This photograph was taken some time after Y3085D/7; a verandah has been added to the first floor frontage of the land office, and there are more telegraph poles along the pavement. Also evidence of some excavation in the road. Two traps stand in front of Dr. Mangelt’s house.

Aldgate Railway Station, Adelaide and Melbourne Railway, 1890

260 x 200 mm. A view from the railway track towards the station, with the stationmaster and others on the platform, and a passenger train drawing in to the station. Aldgate lies between Crafters and Bridgwater in the Mount Lofty Ranges and the section of the railway to Aldgate was opened in March 1883, the last 21 miles of the line costing £20, 500 per mile to construct.

Alfred Hospital, 1870 - 1880

183 x 129 mm. A view of the hospital, a brick building with white stone facings situated in Commercial Road, Prahran. The hospital, the second in Melbourne, was built as a thanksgiving to commemorate the Duke of Edinburgh’s survival of the attempted assassination in Sydney in 1868. Prince Alfred laid the foundation stone in 1869, and the building was opened in 1871.
