A Bush Home, 1885 - 1901

Scope and Contents 200 x 146 mm. A view showing a small wooden cabin with a mother and two children beside the doorway. The roofing is made in the characteristic settlers’ way with sheets of flattened tree-bark held down by a network of branches. The picture shows a small vegetable plot in the foreground. This photograph, and Y3087D/55, give a fascinating and evocative picture of the hardships of life outside the larger cities.

Scope and Contents 205 x 150 mm. Again a view of similar countryside to Y3082C/2-4, looking down the road and with a back view of the same car, but no sign of cultivation on the hills. The pictures are almost certainly of one area and taken on the same day. A possible location would be somewhere in the Mount Lofty Range of hills outside Adelaide, where the countryside is very like this.
