205 x 150 mm. The Cliffords are by the parapet of a corridor at the top of the steps, and there are numerous officials and others grouped about the staircase. The setting and style of the photograph is so similar to Y30448L/6 that it seems probable that it represents part of the farewell ceremonies on Sir Hugh's departure to become Governor of Nigeria in 1919.

A view showing the third building occupied by the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. Built in Hollard Street, with a foundation stone laid by Lord Milner in 1903, the building was opened for use in January 1904.

Stocks and Ranunculus, 1967-09
Contains slides including a group of seven interiors of Marnham's house taken in August 1968, three showing servants in February 1968 and one of the visit of the Mayor for the celebration of the Queen's birthday on 20 April 1968. The majority show the garden, from scenes in April 1967 to seven transparencies making up a panorama taken on the eve of departure in March 1970. In between these are extensive views both of individual clumps of flowers and more general scenes.

Stone Arch, Montagu Pass, George, 1900 - 1910
159 x 115 mm. Showing a stone bridge on the Montagu Pass which connects George and Oudtshoorn across the Outeniqua Mountains. The Pass, opened in 1848, was named after Sir John Montagu, the Colonial Secretary responsible for the construction which opened up the area.

Measuring 175 x 215 mm, this album contains sepia photographs 170 x 115 mm in size. Album spaces 65 and 74 are blank. There are no captions, but some photographs can be identified as Tunis by comparison with postcards in Y304H. Others may be mentioned in the 1922 North Africa Diary (see Introduction), e.g. the Cathedral (p.7/plate 57), Carthage (pp.12ff/plate 59ff), camels (p.66/plates 83, 84), and Porte de France (p.78/plates 49-50), but no detailed research has been attempted.
