 File
Reference Code: GBR/0115/RCS/Y305J

Scope and Contents

Photographs collected by Alfred Hugh Fisher for the Colonial Office Visual Instruction Committee. They are loose prints, most either with captions on the print or handwritten on the reverse. The captions have been used as titles and may include language which is offensive, inaccurate or inappropriate. They have been retained to reflect the context of the collection's creation. Captions supplied by the cataloguer are enclosed in square brackets.
The prints are by:
The Cape Government Railways (1-41);
South African Railways (42-43);
A. Dugmore (75-78);
W.H. Biddulph (79-91);
John R. Cleland (101-108) and T. Lee (109-131).
Other photographs are anonymous and this group is largely devoted to the Cape and the Transvaal with a few prints from Rhodesia [Zimbabwe] (144-155) and Basutoland [Lesotho] (156-159).
