Letter from Sir Rufus Isaacs [later Lord Reading, Attorney General] to WSC marked "private" concerning a letter he has received from W P Byrne about the Lord Chamberlain's disallowance of the play "Pains and Penalties" by Lawrence [?] Thurman. He draws WSC's attention to the letter which will be sent to [?] Thurman explaining the reason for the decision, as the letter will be published, and says that he admits he is already "taking too strong a view about it".
