Papers and correspondence on MAR’s interest in the theatre, mainly relating to the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in 1946. Correspondents including: Donald Wolfit on the refusal of the British Council to support his Canadian tour and developing theatre at Stratford (2); Dame [Agnes] Sybil Thorndike on MAR's Shakespeare Festival oration and the development of Stratford (3); Sir Barry Jackson, Director of the Stratford-upon-Avon Festival Company, on the development of Stratford (2); 3rd Lord Esher [earlier Oliver Brett] on MAR's oration; Robert Barrington-Ward, Editor of the Times, on MAR's oration.
