(This statement, published in the Cambridge University Reporter of 18 May 1962, is critical of the March 1962 report of the Bridges Syndicate [GCPP Needham 2/4/6] and argues for the collegiate scheme presented in the Dining Group's Memorandum [GCPP Needham 2/4/5].) Dorothy Needham's is one of eighteen names of Dining Group members appended at the end of the statement.

Contains slides showing scenes in the house and gardens of John Ewart Marnham's residence just outside Castries. They include slides of the very attractive views from the garden and a series of aerial views taken at varying heights in May 1972. This section concludes with photographs of members of the domestic staff taken just before Marnham left St Lucia (dated Oct 72 nos 18-25). Slides have been renumbered but arrangement in the file remains as per the original typescript catalogue.

Commonwealth Purpose Group, 1962 - 1964
In 1962 an informal dining discussion group was formed and in Nov. was instituted as the Commonwealth Purpose Group. It was associated with the 'Commonwealth in Principle and Practice' symposium and played a leading role in the conference held by the RCS on 22 June 1964. This collection of minutes, correspondence and reports belonged to the group's chairman C. E. Carrington.

Papers relating to the Economic Growth Group, 1961-64, 1961 - 1964
The papers consist mainly of correspondence 1961-4, chiefly invitations and acceptances, including Toby Aldington, 31 May 1962, Harold Wilson MP, 2 May & 9 July 1963, Harold Evans, 3 December 1962. The papers also contain various working drafts of the Group’s manifesto (1962) which was given to all guests who accepted the Group’s invitation to dine.
