Vies des Pères (fragments)
The upper part of two unnumbered leaves containing part of Demi-ami, no. 39 of the Vies des Pères. Written in a xiii cent. French text hand. Capitals alternately in red and blue, with filling and flourishing in the other colour. Bound as flyleaves in In Psalmos Aliquot Davidicos Philippi Melanchthonis Enarrationes Doctissimae (Haganoae, 1528), Adams M?1070 and other works by the same author; the binding is of plain brown calf, possibly contemporary.

A panoramic view composed of two prints measuring 458 x 183 mm. Photographer unknown, possibly R.A. Lanham. The view, taken from a small rise, looks across a park towards the town with the fort at the left of the photographs, and wooden hills in the distance. Fort Jameson, situated near the Nyasaland border, was made the headquarters of the British South Africa Company's north-east Rhodesia administration in 1899.

At a view...and Court Baron held on Apr. 2, 1619 it was reported that at a Court held 24 April 1616 that James Head, sr. surrendered to the hands of John Clark and William Ward 2 customary tenements, a messuage in the west end of Ashwell, next the tenement of Fulk Marshall, clerk, on E. and of William Willowes on W., for the use of Humphrey Mickley who is admitted tenant. Signed by John [Wakeringe?], steward.

An albumen print, mounted on card, measuring 206 x 138 mm, captioned 'St Helena' on the mount. The view looks down from the steep hillside at the summit on which the barracks were built, and shows the buildings lining Main Street which leads into the Grand Parade. At the edge of the Parade is St James' Church, with the Castle on the further side. The Esplanade, with the Harbour beyond, is at the left of the print.

Prints 1 and 2 are also rubberstamped 'A.T.W. Penn, Reliance, Ootacamund'. This refers to the Reliance Auction and Commission Agency run by Penn in the early years of the twentieth century.
