Biographical / Historical

Dr Marjory Warren (1898-1960), C.B.E., consultant physician at the West Middlesex Hospital, Isleworth, was a pioneer in the treatment of elderly patients. In 1960 she was awarded the C.B.E. for her work in the New York Honours, but on September 5th that year she was killed in a car crash in France. The Marjory Warren Geriatric Unit in Brisbane was opened in her memory in 1963. Dr Warren travelled widely, both on holiday and for professional gatherings, and kept illustrated diaries.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Presented by Mrs C.L. Somers-Smith, the youngest sister of Dr Warren, January 1981. Mrs Somers-Smith discovered the diaries whilst acting as the executor of another of her sisters.
