In 1920 EEP became the first woman to be awarded the Kahn Fellowship, which provided funding for a year's travel round the world. This gave her a lifelong interest in the history of the East, and in particular a love of China, which led her to emphasize the importance of studying world history and not just European history.

Copies of two writs served on Jardine, Matheson & Co., Shanghai, by (respectively) Ivanoff, Oberin & Co. and Okooloff, Tokmakoff & Co. in H.B.M. Supreme Court in China and Japan, 31 January 1868, relating to the damage suffered by the companies' cargoes of tea while on board Jardine Matheson's vessel the S.S. 'Glengyle'.

Scope and Contents From the Series: After postgraduate work at Cambridge Corner went to Singapore as Assistant Director of the Botanic Gardens, a post he held 1929-1946. He then went to Brazil to work for UNESCO on the Hylean Amazon project before returning to Cambridge, subsequently becoming Professor of Tropical Botany. Corner was a colleague of Hill's at Cambridge in the 1920s and Hill stayed with Corner during his visit to Singapore and the Dutch East Indies in 1932 (see GBR/0012/MS Add.9267/H.2-GBR/0012/MS...
