About:

Cambridge University Press & Assessment (CUP&A) Archives & Heritage manages the archives of the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES) and Cambridge Assessment from the headquarters of CUP&A in Cambridge.
UCLES was set up by Cambridge University in 1858 to deliver school leaving examinations for non-members of the University and grew to become the umbrella organisation for one of three UK assessment bodies, Cambridge OCR, while its international portfolio included Cambridge International and Cambridge English. As Cambridge Assessment it developed closer ties with Cambridge University Press until the formal merger into Cambridge University Press & Assessment in 2021. Please see separate repositories for Cambridge University Press and Cambridge University Press & Assessment.
