Letter from WSC (Bangalore [India]) to "Mamma" [Lady Randolph Churchill] in which he outlines his plans for returning to England and describes his eagerness to return to civilisation after "barbarous squalor". He comments on the waste of his time in India apart from that spent reading, the amusement provided by discussions between [Ronald] Kincaid[-Smith] and [Charles] Agnew and his distaste for Anglo-Indian society. Letter from WSC (4th (The Queen's Own) Hussars, Bangalore, Madras [India]) to "Mamma" [Lady Randolph Churchill] in which he discusses his journey to Brindisi [Italy] and then to Constantinople [Istanbul, Turkey] and says that he hopes that she will send money and letters of introduction for him. He also discusses the possibility that he might go to serve in Egypt, his reading, his intention to write a book and the progress of an article on relations between the British and the Boers....
