Presumably, despite its name, Durban Deep is in Johannesburg. Nos 11 and 12 are captioned 'Gumboot dance' but the other slides are merely marked 'MD' without further details.

The building, a three-storey construction with a central tower on top of which is a statue, occupies the site of the small thatched building which served as the seat of government when the administration moved from Potchefstroom to Pretoria in 1860. After Union n 1910, it became the seat of the Transvaal Provincial Council.
