In between these are extensive views both of individual clumps of flowers and more general scenes.

Charles Lewis Redwood, 1890 - 1910
A head and shoulders portrait of the son of Professor Theophilus Redwood and father of the donors of the collection. Redwood went to Natal as a young man and was a railway executive. He married Olivia Elizabeth Lys, daughter of John R. Lys of Pretoria. Redwood was later director of a gold mining company in Johannesburg.
