A view showing a ruined church in the foreground, with St Nicholas' Cathedral beyond: 'This view was taken at Famagosta from the inner side of the moat and opposite the gateway at the north-eastern angle of the wall. The prominent ruin here depicted was singled out as a good example of the present condition of a multitude of churches that were all gradually overthrown' (Thomson 1879, vol.2, p.47).

A view showing part of a ruined church, possibly that mentioned by Di Cesnola: 'South-east of the town [Kyrenia], about an hour's ride from it, and midway up the mountains, stands an imposing Medieval ruin, called 'Lapais'. It was an abbey, built by King Hugh III, and belonged to the Latin Church, but was destroyed by the Turks when they captured the fortress of Cerynia' (Cesnola 1877, p. 237).

The first 33 slides in the collection are Ektachromes numbered 501-533 by Marnham. They relate to a a very small area of the island, Kyrenia on the north coast, St Hilarion Castle on the heights behind the town, and Bellapais about 3 miles along the coast. In addition there are 5 Ektachromes of Curium on the south-west coast. These are stamped Sep [19]61 and arranged by processing number.
