Scope and Contents

207 x 156 mm. A view showing part of a ruined church, possibly that mentioned by Di Cesnola: 'South-east of the town [Kyrenia], about an hour's ride from it, and midway up the mountains, stands an imposing Medieval ruin, called 'Lapais'. It was an abbey, built by King Hugh III, and belonged to the Latin Church, but was destroyed by the Turks when they captured the fortress of Cerynia' (Cesnola 1877, p. 237).
