Collection of photographs of industry and agriculture in Tanganyika. Numbers 10-25 (and duplicates 26-50) were issued as a series 'Tanganyika's Three Year Development Plan' and have a separate typed list of captions. 51-68 are dated 31 August 1965 and have captions on the reverse.

141 x 84 mm. A view from the sea looking towards the northern waterfront of Zanzibar Town. In the centre of the picture stands the Beit Al Ajeib. Sir Lloyd Mathews' house, later the Sultan's Palace, is the second building from the left of the print. The spires of the Roman Catholic Cathedral can be seen on the skyline. A noe in pencil on the reverse says : A general view. Central building formerly Sultan's Palace, now used as Govt offices.

234 x 176 mm. A view looking over the square in front of the Beit el Ajaib towards the Palace Pier and the harbour. Crowds of spectators line the waterfront as a longboat flying the German flag approaches the guard of honour on the pier. The occasion is probably the arrival of either Prince Adalbert or Dr Stuhlmann. The photograph is taken from the temporary lighthouse just west of the Beit el Ajaib.

Gout inspection of cloves, 1936 - 1937
160 x 205 mm. The caption continues: 'In the old days, as with many valuable products, cloves were adulterated. Now there are Government quality standards and every bale of cloves which goes out of the country carries a gout grade and inspection stamp. The picture shows samples being withdrawn from bags of cloves before they pass into the clove market.'
