Local Court House, Adelaide, 1890
260 x 195 mm. A front view of the court, with an imposing Roman Doric portico, which stands in King William Street. Built for the Police Court in 1867, when William Hanson was Colonial Architect, it became the Local and Insolvency Courts in 1891.
Lyrup Pumping Station, 1892
270 x 215 mm. A fine study of a group of settlers and children, with the pumping station steam engine to the left, and logs for fuel piled in front. With the River Murray serving as a background.

275 x 205 mm. A view looking down onto the small station building, with a locomotive at the platform and freight cars filled with cargo. The station lies 1700 feet above sea level, 19 miles by rail from Adelaide. This print appears in ‘Glimpses of Australia’ Vol. 1. (Gordon and Gotch, 1897) where is it credited to the South Australian Government.

Museum and Public Library, Adelaide (West Wing), 1890
260 x 195 mm. A view from one side of what is now the Jervois Wing of the State Library of South Australia. An ornate building, with towers and roofs in French Renaissance style, it took from 1879 to 1884 to build, although the wing of the building shown here, housing the Art Gallery, was opened in 1881. A statue of Robert Burns now stands at the nearest corner. Design of the building attributed to G.T. Light (1838-1911).

Coloured and black and white negatives of the Australian artwork, which were taken before its sale by the RCS to the Art Gallery of South Australia in 1970. A list is filed with the collection. Prints are stored at RCMS 40/7.
New Offices (Government), Adelaide, 1890
260 x 200 mm. A three-quarter front view of the building from Victoria Square. The building was completed in 1881.
North Terrace, Adelaide, looking East, 1890
260 x 200 mm. A view down the street, which was at this time predominantly residential, with tramlines and a horse tram in the distance. North Terrace lies directly south of and parallel to the River Torrens and has always been a sought-after area of Adelaide. The building nearest the camera is the Adelaide Club House, designed by E.A. Hamilton and completed in 1864.

On the interior of South Australia, 1842-12-14
The manuscript has no formal title, but written on the back, in E.C. Frome's handwriting, is 'Dec/42. Mem. Mr. Burr on the Interior South Australia'. The work sets out to prove that 'we Southern Australians are not chopped off from the rest of the world: hemmed in on every side'. Burr discusses the importance of South Australia to Britain as a means of absorbing surplus population and for the advancement of Christianity, civilisation and science.

A wide range of papers relating to Gouger and his career in South Australia and correspondence with the R.C.S. regarding the collection. The papers are accompanied by 'Royal Commonwealth Society library notes', no. 65, May 1962, including 'Early days in South Australia' (pp. 1-3), which describes the collection.

215 x 167 mm. A view looking along William Street with the Advertiser office in the foreground and the Post office behind. The foundation stone of the Post Office was laid by the Duke of Edinburgh in 1867 and the building was completed in 1872.
Prince Alfred Collegiate School, Adelaide, 1890
260 x 195 mm. A front view of the school, with pupils standing in front. The school was opened in 1878, and named after Prince Alfred (later Duke of Edinburgh), who visited Adelaide in 1867.
