Province of South Australia land grant, 1875

Scope and Contents A parchment copy of an original land grant of 1839, including a sketch map of the property. There are two authenticating declarations by W.T. Scott and J.C. Lovely, 1875, and certification by John Warren Bakewell, Notary Public, Adelaide. The grant does not indicate where the property in question was located, other than 'N° 382' in the province of South Australia. The grantees were G.F. Angas of Jeffrey's Square, St Mary Axe, and H. Kingscote of Bank Buildings, both in London, and J.R....

Public School, Grote Street, Adelaide, 1890

260 x 200 mm. A three-quarters front view of the single-storey stone building, built in the Gothic style with a central fleche. The school is situated on the South-East corner of Grote Street and Morphett Street, and was built in 1874. With school children standing outside the gate.

A collection of loose photographs, five of which measure approximately 205 x 150 mm. and are of similar country scenes, and on similar paper. The sixth print is a black and white photograph measuring 285 x 165 mm. showing a view of Adelaide. Photographer, or photographers unknown, although at least one print (Y3082C/1) comes from a Government Department. Remaining prints uncaptioned.

Small Viaduct, Adelaide and Melbourne Railway, 1890

260 x 200 mm. A side view of the viaduct, from below, showing the spidery, metal girder construction. The Mount Lofty ranges prevented the eastward expansion of the railways until 1883 when the southern line reached Nairne by the skilful use of viaducts over the hills.
