When the RES Headquarters was rebuilt in 1934-36, gifts of timber for panelling and furnishing were obtained from Empire Governments, companies and individuals. Many were destroyed during the bombing of 1941 and replacement gifts were received. This file coordinates pre and post-war correspondence.

A proof copy, 12 September 1892 (9 pages), with manuscript comments, of Percy Anderson's confidential memorandum on Uganda that led to the British decision to retain the country. There is also p. 96 of 'United empire', vol. XL, which refers to the collection, and an undated photograph, presumably of Sir Percy Anderson. The papers are accompanied by a letter to D.H. Simpson, R.C.S. Librarian, from H.B. Thomas, 16 July 1960.
