Caisson for Breakwater head foundation Sept 1883, 1883-09
258 x 208 mm. Showing the caisson, a watertight chest not unlike a huge cast-iron boiler, in position on the breakwater head. The caisson was lowered into position in December 1883 and by January 1884 it had been filled with concrete.
