Carved tusks presented to Kandy Temple by Burma, 1899

Scope and Contents

210 x 275 mm. View of the two elephant tusks inlaid with representations of the Buddha seated amidst delicate foliage tracery, and with Burmese inscriptions at the root, set on a carved wooden base. These were presumably presented in 1899, at the same time as the casket seen in Y303B/2. Photographer unknown, probably W.L.H. Skeen & Co.
