Environs of Cape Town
A collection of nine (of an original eleven) loose prints measuring approximately 150 x 110 mm. with pencilled captions on the reverse. The captions have been used as titles and have been recorded as found. The majority of the prints show views on the Kloof Road which runs out from West Cape Town and round the Lion's Head. Photographs are possibly by C.F. Wienand.

[Equestrian statue of Dick King, Durban], 1901 - 1902
70 x 80 mm. Half tone illustration cut from The Times. Richard Philip (Dick) King, (1813-1871) was a pioneer in Natal who acquired the sobriquet 'Saviour of Natal' in 1842 when he rode to Grahamstown to obtain help for the garrison under Captain Smith, besieged by the Boers near Congella. Annotated in the top left hand corner: 'Times April 17 sent by HFW'.

Eugenia Myatifolia : Brush Cherry, 1970-03
Contains slides including a group of seven interiors of Marnham's house taken in August 1968, three showing servants in February 1968 and one of the visit of the Mayor for the celebration of the Queen's birthday on 20 April 1968. The majority show the garden, from scenes in April 1967 to seven transparencies making up a panorama taken on the eve of departure in March 1970. In between these are extensive views both of individual clumps of flowers and more general scenes.

The majority of these were taken in the north of the province; at Magoebaskoof (two visits); Tzaneen (including a sequence showing sisal growing and processing); Vendaland in the extreme north and a few coming south to Orhigstad and Graskop. A group taken at Mala Mala camp is assumed to be in the Transvaal, though the precise location has not been found. The section concludes with a visit to a fishing lodge at Dulstroom in December 1969.

A series of watercolours commissioned from the Rhodesian artist Mrs Gilbert Stephenson to be used in colouring lantern slides to illustrate the fifth handbook, A.J. Sargent, 'South Africa: seven lectures (London, 1914). Stephenson had been recommended by the British South Africa Company.

Ferreira Gold Mining Company, Whitehead's Company in distance, 1888
191 x 126 mm. Showing miners at work shifting boulders excavated from the trenches on Ferreira's mine. The Ferreira Gold Mining Company and the Ferreira Deep were named after Colonel Ignatius P. Ferreira (1840-1921) who had laid out Ferreira's Camp in 1886 and was one of the leaders of the early diggers. These two mines were among the most successful on the Wittwatersrand. Whitehead's Mine can just be made out on the horizon.
