The images are of birds, with the exception of two koala bears, two kangaroos and one opossum. The vast majority are the work of three authors, signed Artah, M. Simpson and Koddi. Artah is Violet Artah Bartlett, an artist specialising in Australian ornithology who worked in Sydney during the 1920s. It has proved impossible as yet...

A sandstone building in the Corinthian manner and designed by J.F. Hilly, the foundation stone was laid in 1853 and the building opened four years later.
