235 x 180 mm. An almost identical photograph to Y3085B/2, but taken nearer to Breakfast Creek, and showing the bridge across the Creek. The extent of building out from Brisbane in the intervening years can be seen.

British Consulate, Apia, 1885 - 1890
139 x 95 mm. A view showing a wooden bungalow with a raised verandah. As in Y309B/27 a flag pole announces the official status of the house, although this is a different building to that in Y309B/27, and is set among palm trees. From his correspondence it is clear that Powell moved several times during his stay in Samoa. The surrounding area looks very similar to that in Y309993A/36, although the building is different, or has been altered.

When the RES Headquarters was rebuilt in 1934-36, gifts of timber for panelling and furnishing were obtained from Empire Governments, companies and individuals. Many were destroyed during the bombing of 1941 and replacement gifts were received. This file coordinates pre and post-war correspondence.
