Waimakariri Bridge, 1876
361 x 265 mm. A view from the river bank looking towards the bridge, with grasses and rushes in the foreground. Additional information on the caption states: ‘This bridge carries the Addington and Kowai Railway over the River Waimakariri, in the provincial district of Canterbury. The bridge has a total length of 627 feet, made up of 19 spans of 33 feet each. The contract was let on the 21st April, 1871, and the work completed on the 16th November of the same year, at a cost of £4,400’.
