Scope and Contents Pelops Aegean Cruise photographs, beginning with the collision at Piraeus. Images of achaeological sites at Delos, Mykonos, Melos, Thera, Knossos, Palaekastro, Rhodes, Priene, Ephesus, Assos, Troy, Mytilene and ending with an inland trip to Delphi. Additionally, Wace visited Hosios Loukas monastery on the slopes of Mt Helikon on the return journey from Delphi. Visit to the archaeological sites of Lykosura, Bassae, Valley of Neda, Olympia, Messene, Mt. Ithome, Sellasia and Corinth in Arkadia...

Pelops Cruise, 1903

Scope and Contents This large album was assembled by Wace scrapbook style, with a mixture of print size and print types (gelatin silver and cyanotypes) of the 'Pelops' Aegean cruise in 1903. It has a much more informal feel than the previous two albums of the same cruise, which carefully document the progress of the cruise and the archaeological sites visited in order of the original itinerary. This is more of a joyous riot of memories of an extremely happy time when Wace was 24 and very new to travelling...

Photographs of archaeological sites, each photograph titled in pencil on the cardboard mount by AJBW. Includes images from Corfu, the Peloponnese and Aegean islands (Greece), western Asia Minor (modern day Turkey), Rome and the Roman Campagna, St. Remy in Provence, France.

Scope and Contents The album begins with a trip to Pompei, presumably whilst Wace was resident at the British School at Rome during the autumn. It is followed, after 4 blank leaves, with photographs from the Pelops Aegean Cruise photographs. Images of achaeological sites at Delphi, Knossos, Rhodes, Troy, Priene, Delos and Palaekastro. All the photographs are titled in pencil on the cardboard mount by AJBW. 29 photographic prints, 19 empty apertures of which only 3 are titled by AJBW, i.e. 3 prints...
