Margaret Thatcher Teapot Development and Production Correspondence, 1980 - 1982
Scope and Contents
A file containing manuscript and typescript letters regarding the development and production of Luck & Flaw's Margaret Thatcher teapot. A large portion of the letters received are from Brunswick Ceramic Services (BCS), which designed the mould for the teapot and worked with a number of potteries to produce samples, before it appears both Gill Wing Ceramics and English Ironstone Company were settled upon to manufacture the finished product. Correspondence also covers the following topics: indemnity cover regarding potential defamation suits; public and products liability insurance; packaging for teapots; BCS' royalties on future sales; advertisement in newspapers; and order requests.
Also present within the file are draft promotional material for the teapot and the Prince Charles [afterward King Charles III] loving cup; a small memorandum book with notes by Roger Law; and a small record book on the sales of the teapot and loving cup from the Gill Wing Ceramics/T.S. Elsdale factory, between June 1981 and early 1982, along with other notes.
