West Indies Navigation Co Ltd

 Organization

Biography

The West Indies Navigation Co. Ltd was formed on 23 September 1954 by the Colonial Development Corporation, Indo-China Steam Navigation Co. Ltd and Jardine, Matheson & Co. Ltd. The new company commenced trading in January 1955, with Jardine, Matheson & Co. (Caribbean) Ltd as General Managers. The S.S. 'West Indian' (previously S.S. 'Wingsang'), of the Indo-China Steam Navigation Co. Ltd, was chartered for the company's operations. Jardine, Matheson & Co. Ltd and the Indo-China Steam Navigation Co. Ltd sold their shareholdings in the company to the Colonial Development Corporation in 1958, which disposed of its own interest in 1960.
