A personal photograph album of a family trip to Algeria, starting in Algiers. it is an early indicator of Lord Tayour's abiding, life-long interest in photographing landscapes, gardens, local peoples, his own family memebrs and archaeological sites.

Seventeen letters from Captain Matthew Flinders, his brother Lieutenant Samuel Ward Flinders, the astronomer John Crosley, Captain Thomas Hurd and the Astronomer Royal, John Pond. Also included are copies of relevant minutes of the Board of Longitude, a proposal by Captain Flinders that the whole of the calculations for the voyage should be calculated, and a petition by Samuel Ward Flinders for remuneration for work he had done on the observations.

A set of letters sent to Hilda Routh, George Airy's eldest daughter, during her honeymoon in September 1864 by George Airy, his wife Richarda, Hilda’s sisters, Christabel and Annot, and brother Hubert. The letters are of a personal nature and are originally tied together with string.

The series comprises numbered and un-numbered field notebooks;specimen catalogues; sketchbooks, photograph albums, and maps.

Also includes a memorandum of 'Places worth seeing in Mr. Skynner's Tour with my cousin in June 1783', 90 folios. According to a note by John Lee of Hartwell inside the front cover, the writer was Colonel Sir William Lee, and the cousin William Lee Antonie Esq. of Colworth, Bedfordshire. Pp. 89-180 are blank. Inside the front cover: 'Hartwell Library repaired May 1831', in the hand of J. Lee.

A journal of a voyage to Spain, and travels through Spain and France, beginning 'Tho' I never set downe anything of my former travailes, yet now this voyage being begun on an extraordinary occasion … Thursday 11 Aug.' [the year may be 1670, 1681, 1687 or 1692]. The author appears to have been Thomas Williams, who also used the volume as an account book around the year 1680.

Includes various original photographs, including one of a group in Asia Minor (Turkey), W. H. Buckler, W. M. Calder and Guthrie (front right), and one of Guthrie as a young man, possibly with his parents. Includes photographs of the Acropolis and ?Delphi, Granada, signed 'WKCG Granada 1933', and several published photographs showing various sarcophagi and buildings, including La Porte doree aux Sept-Tours and Entrée principale de Sainte Sophie.

The papers comprise a variety of operational records including governing body minutes and accounts; editorial material; student records; and subject files concerning conferences and relations with interested external bodies.

A brief account book and diary by W. Turner of a voyage to India, 1764-1765, referring to Nevil Maskelyne and Lord Clive (Turner sailed on board the Prince of Wales Indiaman and met both gentlemen while his ship was anchored in Table Bay). The account book also includes a brief note on the text.
