Contains slides showing scenes in the house and gardens of John Ewart Marnham's residence just outside Castries. They include slides of the very attractive views from the garden and a series of aerial views taken at varying heights in May 1972. This section concludes with photographs of members of the domestic staff taken just before Marnham left St Lucia (dated Oct 72 nos 18-25). Slides have been renumbered but arrangement in the file remains as per the original typescript catalogue.

Scope and Contents 155 x 101 mm. A good clear view looking towards Roseau and the sea from the hills behind the town. In the foreground is the Roseau River with fields planted out with lime trees beyond. The plantation is probably part of Rose and Company's Bath Estate. The company was established in Dominica in the 1860s by Laughlan Rose, a merchant from Leith, who apart from supplying limes to British ships, pioneered their use in soft drinks. 159 x 102 mm. A view looking along the steep-sided Roseau Valley with limes growing in the foreground and mountains in the distance. The lake referred to is the Freshwater Lake in the extinct volcano 3000 feet above sea level at the end of the valley.

There are also 5 slides of Tobago and one of Jamaica not numbered by him, but clearly identifiable by the processing number and probably omitted on account of inferior quality or repetitive subject. They are inserted at appropriate points. Eleven slides (numbers 23-28), 29-31, 33-35) are in Kodak Readymount frames without processing numbers and since several show John Ewart Marnham and Susan Marnham it is...
