122 x 122 mm. A view showing a man, possibly a correspondent, beside his camel watching a wounded dervish on the battlefield. Another aspect of the battle that came in for later criticism was the killing of wounded dervishes. In many cases, however, there was little else the advancing army could do since throughout all the Sudan campaigns it was dervish practice to fight to the death and several men were killed and wounded while attempting to help the fallen.
