'Fountain Cottage' and 'The Fountain', Deer Park, Port Hacking River [i.e. Hacking River], 1888
275 x 220 mm. Showing a river in the foreground, fed from a spring. The cottage stands on a ledge beyond the river, with three figures posing in front of it. The deer-park was an enclosed, cleared area in the park stocked with deer.

Garden Island, Sydney, 1885
190 x 140 mm. A view of the island from the east, showing a few buildings which are probably naval warehouses. From 1866 the island was used as a depot for H.M. Ships in Australian waters. From 1877, when a financial arrangement was agreed, building started on the island. This photograph was probably taken around 1885, before building had progressed to any great extent. Between 1940-45 the island was made into a peninsula, joined to the mainland by a graving dock.
