Altar of chapel at Codrington College, Barbados, 1905
147 x 197 mm. A view looking towards the eastern wall of the chapel and showing the altar and curtains beyond. The college was founded from the estate left by Christopher Codrington a wealthy plantation owner and Governor-General of the Leeward Islands (1700-1705) who died in 1710.
Army uniforms of the Empire and Commonwealth, 1860s-1940s
A collection of loose prints of various sizes, printed reproductions and other ephemera relating to the uniforms of overseas military units. The prints are by various photographers. The file also includes a photocopy copy of Tylden's Royal Commonwealth Society Library Talk - 'The history of the overseas armed forces' (10 April 1960).
Autobiographical note, 1903 - 1961-07
Memoir by A.R. Chancellor of his service with the colonial police in Barbados and the Straights Settlements (7 sheets), with correspondence relating to its acquisition. There is a second brief note entitled 'My two adventures with crocodiles', probably also written by Chancellor.
The file contains two photographs, the first of Chancellor as C.P.O. Malacca [Melaka], taken in 1905, and the second of a Melakan police constable in 1903.

A number of masts of sailing ships are clearly visible as are various horse-drawn carriages and carts. A small crane can also be seen by the dock area indicating this was a trading port. Location unknown although most likely Bridgetown or Speightstown. Photograph by Cooper and Company (stamped in the bottom right-hand corner).
